The Selvapiana winery is situated in Chianti Rufina, the northernmost subregion of Chianti well into the Appennine mountains to the northeast of Florence.. Selvapiana is one of the most historical wineries in the region famous for its very high quality wines. The winery is owned by siblings Federico and Nicoletta whose father managed the property during his whole life and finally received it as an inheritance when the noble family who owned it didn't leave any heirs.
Not many know the Pomino appellation in the Northern part of Tuscany, mainly because it’s so small and only counts 2 wineries. But it’s a very old wine producing area dating back to Cosimo Medici III’s regulation of 1716, and today it produces both reds (and whites) of great quality and that stand out from its surrounding areas as it features international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in addition to the local Sangiovese. Ready to drink, but you can also hold…definitely a food wine to be enjoyed with a delicious meal.
